A native of North Glengarry, Michael began his entrepreneurial career as a small business owner selling firewood at a local park and running a roadside sweet corn stand. He studied Welding Engineering Technology at Northern College, after which he joined Hobart Brothers of Canada as a Technical Sales Representative. Advancing into roles focused on business development, Michael initiated programs to help retain and grow strategic accounts within the organization. In 2007 Michael was asked to move to the US to join the Hobart Brothers division of ITW Welding as the International Sales Manager. This role lead to 7 years of international travel, working within several industry sectors with an emphasis on Oil & Gas activities. In 2014, Michael returned to Canada to join National Steel Car, located in Hamilton, ON, first as a Senior Manager quickly progressing to Managing Director.
In December of 2017, Michael joined the CFDC Team as Interim Executive Director. He plans to utilize his extensive experience and training in business management, strategic marketing/planning and partnerships to help grow the organization and create a positive impact in the community.
Michael has held positions on several technical advisory committees during his career and looks forward to committing his efforts on local committees in the near future.
Michael is focused on improving access to funding and support for small and medium sized businesses in the region and is passionate about forming and strengthening relationships between Cornwall, the Counties and Akwesasne.
