The series, called “Made in Cornwall”, will be available on their website. The City of Cornwall maintains an active Economic Development Department with the primary goal of facilitating growth and development. The department of economic development works to assist new and existing manufacturing and commercial business locate or expand in the City.
Outcome: Enhance local businesses and local economy. This project will assist local businesses and promote the Cornwall area.

White Swan Linen, located in Alexandria, is a commercial services (social enterprise) operated by Community Living Glengarry Inc. which provides meaningful work experience for participants with intellectual disabilities. They provide services to airlines, spas, ambulances as well as retirement homes.
Outcome: Productivity enhancement and increase in quality control. The project will allow the organization to be more competitive. This project will also create 2 new jobs.

Funding summary: Assisted in the expansion of their facility by contributing to the purchase of an oil extruder and oil press. Derks Elevator Inc. is a family owned and operated business where 6500 ton of corn and 5000 ton of soybeans are handled by the elevator each year. As a part of the elevator, they also roast beans and expel the oil from the soybeans. They operate out of Chesterville but provided services across Eastern Ontario; however most of our clients are within Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.

Their mission is engaging their community in work, play and in the realization of their personal potential.

Menchies is a frozen yogurt franchise initially created by a couple from the U.S. in 2007. Today, they have more than 300 locations around the world.
Outcome: Create a diverse business in the community. Become a “go to” place for the residents and visitors. The project will also create 8 new jobs.

Funding summary: Assisted in the installation of a sprinkler system in their outside storage buildings in order to meet the 2007 Ontario Fire Code. The business collects used tires and creates rubber mats. On average, they produce 295 000 mats per year. The business currently has 43 full time employees and is the only business of its kind in Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry.
Outcome: Create a safe work environment. The project will allow the business to continue with other expansion projects and will maintain 43 jobs.

Ontario Pride Eggs is an egg grading station operating out of Monkland that provide services to a variety of farmers. They ensure the movement of over 285,000 dozen eggs every week between Gatineau and the GTA. The project will allow the business to continue with other plans for future expansion.
Outcomes: Reduce monthly water costs. More forward with other expansion projects. This project will maintain 43 jobs in Monkland.

Seaway Yarns Ltd. is a family owned business that operates out of Cornwall. The yarns are sold and used to create products such as fire hoses, protective clothing, ropes, etc.
Outcomes: Increase profitability by doing the dyeing themselves. This will allow the organization to expand customer base and introduce new products. This project will also create 3 new jobs.

Funding summary: Assisted in the hiring of a consultant firm to develop a farm management software. The software will allow the business to maximize efficiency of the unit. Smart Greens is a hydroponic farm housed in a refurbished marine container. The unit consists of 256 vertical growing towers capable of growing 3000 plants of varying leafy greens. The business was established in Cornwall in March 2014.
Outcome: Increase efficiency in daily operations and increase quality control. This project will allow them to expand their business and purchase additional farms (containers).
